Mr. John Landin began his current position as the head director of the Awesome Cooper Band in the summer of 2021.

Patrick Stevenson - Associate Director of Bands/Percussion Coordinator
Mr. Patrick Allen Stevenson is currently in his 16th year serving as Associate Director of Bands/Percussion Coordinator for the Awesome Cooper Band where he instructs the Concert Band, Drumline, Indoor Drumline, and Percussion Ensembles. He is also an accomplished arranger, arranging the 2018 Cooper Marching show, Indoor Drumline shows, various movements and music for the percussion section for shows over the past 6 years, including the 2019 marching show. In 2017, Mr. Stevenson was named a Cooper High School TLC Teacher of the Year. He is extremely proud of the accomplishments of his students, who consistently excel in their performances and abilities resulting in an increase of superior ratings and section membership.
Mr. Stevenson received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Oklahoma State University, where he was a member of and student instructor with the Cowboy Marching Band. He also was an active member of the percussion ensemble and on two occasions competed with the drumline at PASIC. During his time at OSU, he was also a member of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corp, competing around the country and at World Championships in Madison, Wisconsin 2002. Mr. Stevenson also holds a Master of Music from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, specializing in world music. He is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, the Percussive Arts Society, and Theta Chi Fraternity.
In addition to his duties at Cooper, Mr. Stevenson teaches percussion at summer band camp at McMurry University. He also teaches privately with the AISD Supplemental Music Lesson Program.
Mr. Stevenson is also an accomplished performer serving as a member of and guest with various symphony and chamber orchestras. He has performed with numerous groups and individuals over the years, including performances at the Grand Ole Opry, Revolutions Strings, Key City Percussion, and with Larry Gatlin.
Mr. Stevenson and his wife Melissa recently celebrated their 19th anniversary. They have two children, son Collin and daughter Dorothy. Mr. Stevenson enjoys cycling and spending time with his family.

Jessica Fox - Associate Director of Bands
Jessica Fox is an Abilene native and a Cooper High School graduate from 2005. She graduated from McMurry University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Education where she studied flute, had international performances with the Wind Ensemble, performed with the Jazz Band, and a variety of other ensembles throughout her time there.
She began teaching at Cooper in 2019 and assists with the marching band, teaches beginners at Clack and Madison middle schools, and conducts the Cooper Symphonic band. When not teaching, Ms. Fox enjoys traveling with her family, baking and crafting, and spending time with her puppy Ellie.
